The Founder

Dr. Maurice A. Johnson is the Founder and Pastor of Memphis Christian Center. Pastor Johnson and his wife of thirty-seven (37) years, Minister Brenda Kerr Johnson, have three (3) sons, Maurice Jr., Morgan and Marcus, (4) grandsons and (2) granddaughters. Pastor Johnson enjoys travel, hunting, watching old movies with his wife, and spending time with his family. He stands as an exemplary role model to all men of a committed Man of God, devoted husband and loving father.July 11, 1993, Pastor Johnson was compelled by the Holy Spirit to make a bold move to start a church in the confines of his home. He and his wife and sons, who made up the founding members of what is now Memphis Christian Center, had Sunday service and Tuesday night service every week. Pastor Johnson and others faithfully continued a prison ministry to women and men at the Shelby County Correctional Institution, and The Mark Luttrell State Institution every month.
